Stage 2 | HSIE | Unit 3
This unit teaches students to explore significant natural and cultural environments in Australia and globally, examining how they influence where people live. Students analyse satellite images and climate data to identify settlement patterns and explain how climate affects population distribution. Students compare natural and human features of Australia with another country using geographical vocabulary and evidence. They also deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ connections to Country by examining mapping practices, movement pathways, exchange networks and archaeological evidence of continuous occupation.
